What is on next month in Vancouver when it comes to concerts? The lineup this February is both impressive and seriously diverse. No matter what your musical preference—soft rock, R&B and jazz fusion, or alternative and grunge—we promise there is a show for you.
With classic ballads like “When a Man Loves a Woman," "Missing You Now," and “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You,” Michael Bolton’s time, love and tenderness has made him one of the most highly regarded artists of our time. The Grammy Award-winner will perform at the elegant Orpheum Theatre on February 12, where his timeless hits and pop standards will be specially and specifically arranged to be accompanied by a symphony orchestra. Expect to have your heartstrings pulled.
The incredibly talented R&B, jazz fusion, electronic, and psychedelic bass player Stephen Bruner—also known as Thundercat—first became recognized for his acrobatic playing style, which made him the go-to session musician for artists like Erykah Badu and Snoop Dogg. Bruner finally released his own album in 2011, The Golden Age of the Apocalypse, which gained much critical acclaim for its ‘70s-fusion inspired sound. Just recently he announced a new album entitled, "It Is What It Is," will be released in April. Thundercat will kick off his 27-date North American tour in Vancouver at the Vogue Theatre on February 28.
Songs like “Interstate Love Song,” "Creep," “Big Empty,” and “Vasoline” are the hallmarks of ‘90s alternative and grunge and are just a sample of the long line of hits churned out by the Stone Temple Pilots. The band has remained prolific over the years, amidst the tumultuous ups and downs with their former frontman, the late Scott Weiland. Their sound, a blend of classic rock and psychedelia, with pop melodies thrown in, is their enduring legacy. Stone Temple Pilots’ latest and eight studio album, Perdida, is due out on February 7—a couple days after they perform at the Commodore Ballroom on February 5. Catch up with this legendary band and keep your ears open for their new single, "Fare Thee Well."
