Can you believe 2020 is almost here? There are so many different ways to celebrate the New Year in Vancouver — and so many great events that are close to the Georgian Court Hotel!
Perched in beautiful False Creek, Science World is one of the most iconic landmarks in Vancouver. And, along with being a top tourist destination, it’s also home to one of the most spectacular New Year’s Eve parties in the city. The space opens up for two levels for music and entertainment — six different DJs and live performers — with five fully licensed bars, and spectacular lights and visuals. And what they have in store for the big countdown is something not to be missed! The dress code is semi-formal, so you can dress to impress while dancing your way into the new year.
The historic Commodore Ballroom is a legendary Vancouver venue and, this New Year’s Eve, it is host to one of the city’s most popular themed nights: Slow Jam Sundays. Ring in 2020 with this sultry video dance party, featuring all your favourite old school jams from artists like Dru Hill, Ginuwine, and Salt-n-Pepa. Located right on Granville Street, this Vancouver landmark is walking distance from luxurious downtown accommodations such as the Georgian Court Hotel.
Waltz into the New Year with this spectacular performance that pays homage to the golden age of Viennese music. This salute to the cultural contributions of Vienna takes place at the glorious Orpheum Theatre. The Stauss Symphony of Canada and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra performs, recreating the Neujahrskonzert, a traditional Viennese concert that welcomes the arrival of the New Year. Along with selections from operettas, overtures, and the famous Blue Danube Waltz, the concert will also feature singers, ballroom and ballet dancers. Join in this 24-year tradition!
